A Summer Camp For Big Kids

Published: May 18, 2017

It was Memorial Day Weekend in 2001 when Summer Camp Music Festival made its first debut. The original idea for Summer Camp was to create a resting spot for a tour. It would be a small festival where touring bands could set up camp in between shows. Essentially it was a jam band festival with moe. as its headliner. Now going into its 17th year, Summer Camp has evolved into a 3 day festival (4 days if you count the Thursday pre-show) with over 20,000 attendees, 100 bands, and 7 stages. The lineup has evolved to more than just bands in the jam scene, eventually adding EDM artisits to the roster as the genre's popularity grew. Derek...

Article written by Martin Kelley Photos taken by Sean Reen Early in the month of June, Burlington had it's annual Discover Jazz Festival. Outdoor stages grace Church St. and there are a lot of special shows going on at the local bars, breweries, and nightclubs. It's a great time to embrace the warmer weather with a lot of fun and music, and goes on over the course of two weekends and the days in between. This year, one of the most talked about late shows was Water For Gasoline. Taking it's name from a Howlin' Wolf song, and basically a preemptive strike on the second weekend of the festivities, WFG brought together the combined guitar power...

A foam party, a sauna, a comedy club, and Tipper, what do all of these have in common? They are all things you can partake in at Enchanted Forest Gathering! EFG is a small festival of about 4,000 attendees that takes place in Laytonville, California. If you've heard of it before, it was probably by word of mouth, which is how EFG tends to spread its word. Even here at CashorTrade, we had heard the name before, but had little knowledge about the festival itself. Luckily, Steve Emmerich, marketing director for Enchanted Gathering, was able to give us the sweet deets. "Celebrated as NorCal's premiere music, art movement and concious living...

We've all see this happen, a festival that was once new, local, and small has been around for a while and has gradually gotten larger, better known, and more expensive. It's cool to watch a festival grow into something more with bigger acts, a larger stage, and more attendees, but it sucks to go from paying something like $50 for a pass to closer to $200. There are so many festivals around nowadays that it seems like you have to dish out big bucks just to attend one with a good lineup. Candler Park Music and Food Festival is one of the few festivals that have been around for years and grown in size, but still remains affordable. Candler Park...

Making Noise With The Untz

If you're a lover of electronic music, especially underground, then there's a good chance you already know about The Untz, and if you don't know, well, now you know. Created in 2009 by Avi Gallant and Matthew Thomas, The Untz has provided a space for all things electronic; created as a solution to the vastly expanding electronic universe. If you're looking for information on artists, venues, events, or promoters, you don't have to search all over the internet, it's all there in one place. After several years of involvement in the electronic music community, it made sense for The Untz to put on a festival of their own. The Untz is composed of...

CashorTrade in Seven Days

Published: May 11, 2017

Burlington, VT is one of the best places to live if you believe in supporting local businesses. That's why we love it here, just a lot of people helping each other grow. Following the trend, Seven Days, a local newspaper, was kind enough to publish an article about us. Brando and Dusty recently sat down for an interview with Dan Bolles. "Equal parts eBay, Craigslist and Phantasy Tour, the website does a brisk business by merging the enthusiasm and connectedness of fan communities - in particular, the jam scene - with a promise from all parties to abide by the Golden Rule. Following several years of consistent growth, culminating in 41,000...

Article and Pictures By Martin Kelley The Talking Heads formed in 1975. Dubbed as "new wave" with other artists growing out of the New York City punk scene, they developed a unique sound with elements of punk, pop, funk, and world music. Even though the Talking Heads broke up 1991, save for a one-off reunion in 2002, where they played a few songs at their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, their music has become a perennial favorite for multiple generations of listeners. They have managed to capture some deep elements of humanity in their music, while keeping a carefree and clean aesthetic about it. For fans of the Talking Heads,...

CashorTrade on Jambase

CashorTrade wouldn't exist without the amazing community that stands behind it. As always, we thank each and every one of our users for their continued support. In this post we would like to specifically thank Andy Smith from Phansite.com, one of our partners. Recently Brando interviewed with Andy for CashorTrade themed article to be published on Jambase. "For many years the site was a labor of love, a side-project while he and his brother ran a web design company. But recently CashorTrade.org surpassed a major milestone: 100,000 users. And last year, the site facilitated over 100,000 ticket exchange transactions. This new pinnacle gave the...

Disc Jam: A Festival For Everyone

Published: April 12, 2017

It's quite the time to be alive for festival goers! There are countless numbers of events happening all year round all over the world. It can become overwhelming to pick and choose which shows to attend and which ones to save for next year. If you ask us which shows not to miss, Disc Jam Music Festival is at the top of our list. Disc Jam began in 2011 when creator, Tony Scavone, realized that there was an overlap between two of his passions, live music and disc golf. He found that both of these communities are made up of positive and supportive members who "welcome one another to become something special when joined together." It became a...

We've definitely said this before, but we'll say it again. Here in Burlington, VT we're all about supporting local. Kevin Statesir, the man behind Higher Ground all these years, couldn't agree more. After giving up his ownership of one of the biggest music venues in the Burlington area, Statesir started StatesirReal Projects with Tim Cece to help out local bands that are just getting started. Their latest endeavor is called "Burlington Showcase," a night dedicated to promoting local bands. Statesir was kind enough to answer some questions for us on that matter. Tell us a bit about this exciting new event, and the bands listed. "After leaving...
