An Emoe.tional Last Night with Moe.

July 29, 2017 - By Brando Rich

This past Friday, July 28th moe. Played their last show together until the end of their indefinite hiatus in Tamarack, Idaho at the Huckleberry Jam Festival. The band is taking a hiatus after over 25 years of making music due to Rob Derhak's recent cancer diagnosis. Luckily the form of cancer is highly beatable and Rob "...intends to do just that!" The support for Rob and the enetire band was felt all around and their attitude and confidence in a healthy recovery, and the eventual return of moe., surely set the tone for an unforgetable show.

The band opened the set with "Moth" and flowed into into "Puebla" followed by "Annihilation Blues" into an incredible "Silver Sun" which got the crowd into a frenzy. The first set was ended with a dramtic and heavy "Four" into the upbeat "Akimbo".

The second set was a three song set that the band really took into a long jam of "Recreational Chemistry" into a heavy "Meat" that they brought up and down captivating the crowd the whole time. The second set was ended by unexpectedly and oh so smoothly going back into "Moth" which made the fans lose it.

"Wind It Up" ended the show, the whole crowd joining in powerfully and proudly belting the lyrics "Be on my side, I'm on your side". This has emotions high and fans higher. Moe. effortlessly transitioned into "Captain America" which brought a light hopeful goodbye to their everyone as they ended their last show. As hard as it is to think about a world without moe. touring and making music but they treated it just like another day at the office...Almost assuring us that it's all going to be 'okay, alright' before we know it! We wish Rob a speedy recovery and cannot wait until they are back, stronger than ever.

Moe. will be playing as Phil Lesh's (friends) in Phil and Friends at Lockn' August 24th-27th.
